Daal
Daal ( for two portions)
Ingredients: Red/orange lentils 1 cup Turmeric 1/4 tea spoon Salt to taste Curry leaves powder 1 tea spoon Cloves 2(optional) Green chillies(optional)
Variation One: Tomatoes 1, Onions 1/2
Variation Two: Capsicum red , Bell pepper (red) 1
Preparation: Step 0. Cook the lentils in 1:2water, add Turmeric and salt while boiling. Note: thoroughly wash the lentils before cooking. Else it creates froth
Variation One:
Step 1: Finely Chop onions and tomatoes .
Step 2: n a pan take two table spoons of oil, add cloves and let them turn aromatic.
Step 3: Add chopped onions and add some salt. Cook till golden brown. Add the tomatoes and green chillies. Saute for few minutes.
Step 4: Add the 'Palem Spices' curry leaves powder and saute for one more minute .
Step 5: Add the cooked daal into this mixture and keep under low flame for 5minutes and switch off .
Variation Two:
Step 1: Chop the bell pepper into small pieces
Step 2: In a pan take two table spoons of oil, add cloves and let them turn aromatic.
Step 3: Add the bell pepper and green chillies. Saute for few minutes.
Step 4: Add the 'Palem Spices' curry leaves powder and saute for one more minute.
Step 5: Add the cooked daal into this mixture and keep under low flame for 5minutes and switch off.
Serving: Enjoy with rice or roti
